For 13 years I have been putting little frames to it for more than 100 clients in more than 10 countries in Europe, Asia and North America.
The world is a museum
Photography is an amazing tool to connect human to humans and brands with fans. Among my clients you find Adidas, Lego, Head & Shoulders, LMVH, Bernard van Leer Fondsen, Amstelring, Bevolkingsonderzoek Nederland, Gemeente Amsterdam, Norah Textiles, Zwart Hout and many others. Projects vary from (inter)national campagnes, print books and magazines, reportages and image banks for websites and print.
My personal work, where I get to experiment and push the visual limits, has been featured on Vogue Italy and exhibited in Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, Museo Maritime de Barcelona, Monaco, LA and a 50 image exhibit at hotel Bergse Bossen.
About
About me
Photography is a great tool to connect people and ideas. My backgrounds is in (audio)visual media and communication and eventually I specialised in photography, although I often play with mixed media. As a professional curious, photography is keeps me busy with different topics, locations and teams.
Perspective is my fascination, no matter the subject, where you are standing defines how you are going to experience it. If you move a couple of steps or lay down, the subject will look completely different. Not only for pictures but for life in general.
Everything has many sides and you can look at it as a close up and see the details or as a wide angle to get context, the big picture thus. Therefore I assume that I don't know anything and take my time to admire the subject, to be surprised by it and if I think I already know it, rediscovery takes place. Those are the philosophies I live by and apply while working.
The relativity of things and consideration of perspective also comes from the fact that I grew up between two cultures with a dutch father and a mexican mother. I guess the contrast in cultures made me even more curious about multiple ways to experience the world, so I first studied International Communication and Media and later did a minor in Audiovisual narrative, where the trajectory of the eye and analysis of visual compositions were the main topics.
Photography has been my job for 13 years and I have seen a lot and yet, always ends up surprising me. I have cried for beauty, of the people in Oaxaca or the peace at the Tibetan Plateau, projects that made me feel incredibly grateful and make it worth keeping up the uncertainties of freelancing. I love to listen to my clients and also play around while shooting, it is my fitness too! To take the right angle I have to do all kind of yoga-like poses, it looks very funny in the behind the scenes. When I am not photographing, I am learning; my most recent books have been about neurology, stoicism, meditation and the history of information. Or dancing, writing, painting, ceramics, seeing friends, bonsais, creating (electronic) sound experiences, playing with my cat, meditating, contemplating the present, decorating, just playing around really. Looking forward to get in touch!
